ABOUT KID RATNAYAKE
Who Am I?
I’m Kid Ratnayake, and originally known as Chathuranga Rathnayake, a personal development consultant from Sri Lanka and the creator of the Lifestyle Engineering approach.
I help people understand who they are, identify the patterns keeping them stuck, and engineer a lifestyle that better supports where they want to go.
The story in one line
A long attempt to understand myself that turned into a way of helping others understand themselves.
This started long before the business. ↓
Psychology.
2011 · Around Age 14
My interest in understanding people started almost accidentally.
One day at Sunday school, someone spoke about psychology. I don’t remember everything he said.
But I remember that word.
“Why do people do what they do?”
Age 13–15
When I came home, I discovered old psychology and education books belonging to my father, who worked in the education sector.
There wasn’t constant internet access waiting for me. So I read. I explored ideas about behaviour, learning and the way people think.
At the time, I had no idea this curiosity would eventually become my work.
A question had started. →
I Had Ideas.
I Just Didn’t Know Where They Belonged.
Growing up, I never felt naturally aligned with one conventional path.
I moved through commerce, IT, software engineering, graphic design, film, creative work and eventually personal branding.
It looked scattered from the outside. But every environment was teaching me something about how I thought, worked and responded to people.
Many paths, one subject
But the subject I kept coming back to was myself.
Ability Wasn’t My Only Problem.
I Didn’t Know How to Operate Myself.
Focus.
Money.
Relationships.
Emotional reactions.
Work.
Pressure.
Direction.
I could perform extremely well under certain conditions and struggle badly under others.
My attention could become scattered. I relied heavily on last-minute pressure. I could become emotionally reactive. Money disappeared through impulsive decisions.
Why can I clearly see that I’m capable of more, but still keep repeating the same patterns?
Eventually, finding another job stopped being the question.
Understanding Myself Became the Question.
Instead of Asking, “What’s Wrong With Me?”
I Started Asking, “How Do I Actually Work?”
A consultation first pushed me to look more seriously at my own attention and cognitive patterns.
From there, I began a much deeper period of self-directed learning, observation and experimentation around behaviour, psychology, attention, physical health, nutrition, environment, habits and personal performance.
I also began understanding my own ADHD-related attention patterns more clearly. Instead of trying to force myself to operate exactly like everybody else, I started observing myself.
The questions I started asking
I Stopped Trying to Suppress Everything.
I Started Learning Where to Redirect It.
Before
- Scattered attention
- Reactive emotions
- Last-minute execution
- Impulsive spending
- Generic routines
- Constant questioning
≈ 6 MONTHS
After
- Longer periods of deep focus
- Greater emotional self-observation
- Work designed around energy
- More conscious money behaviour
- Better communication
- More deliberate decisions
The biggest shift wasn’t becoming another person. It was beginning to understand how to work with the person I already was.
I Wasn’t Trying to Become Someone Else Anymore.
I Was Learning How to Build Around Myself.
The First Time I Spoke Like Myself,
People Recognized Themselves.
At first I created content around subjects I thought I was supposed to talk about. It didn’t feel right.
Then I shared something based on what I was actually experiencing and thinking. The reaction changed.
People watched. Shared. Reposted. Messaged me.
“Bro, I’m Going Through the Same Thing.”
That changed everything.
The patterns I had spent years trying to understand in myself were showing up in other people’s lives too.
Different Symptoms.
Often Deeper Patterns Underneath.
People were repeatedly trying to fight what they could see. I became more interested in what was underneath it.
Not simply: “How do I become disciplined?”
Why can’t this particular person stay disciplined?
Not simply: “What career should I choose?”
Who is the person making that decision?
Who Are You, Originally?
A Simpler Way to See the Whole Person.
During my own development, a doctor I consulted introduced me to a way of looking at human functioning through biological, psychological, environmental and spiritual dimensions.
That perspective stayed with me. Over time, I simplified and adapted those dimensions into language that was easier to understand and apply.

02
Mind

03
Environment

04

Purpose
BODY ↔ MIND ↔ ENVIRONMENT ↔ DIRECTION
All four influence each other.
The originality of Lifestyle Engineering is not the existence of these ideas. It is how I simplify, connect and apply them around the individual.
The Goal Isn’t a Perfect Lifestyle.
It’s the Right Lifestyle for the Person.
Different people have different attention patterns, histories, responsibilities, goals, environments and strengths. So the actions should not be identical.
Lifestyle Engineering means deliberately adjusting Body, Mind, Environment and Direction around the individual and what they are trying to achieve.
ENGINEERING
For a founder, the goal may be building a lifestyle capable of carrying a growing business. For another person, it may be finding career direction. For another, rebuilding focus. For another, understanding the pattern keeping them in the same loop.
The person changes. The problem changes.
The engineering changes with them.
Find the block
Identify the main + secondary block
Understand the history
See the repeating patterns
Find what is reinforcing them
Engineer the right changes
Implement
Observe
Adjust
Find Your Block gives us a starting point. The Main Block shows where the strongest problem appears. The Secondary Block can help reveal what may be supporting it.
In private 1:1 work, I then go deeper into the person’s behaviour, history, environment, relationships, goals and repeated patterns.

The numbers keep growing. But the part that matters most is what sits underneath them: people recognizing themselves in the ideas.
Community in numbers
I began structured paid 1:1 personal-development consultations in January 2026.
Today, my work includes personal-development consultations, Lifestyle Engineering engagements, digital tools and educational content built around helping people understand themselves and move forward more deliberately.
Lived Experience.
Not Pretend Credentials.
My formal educational background is in film and creative technology, not psychology. I am not a psychologist, psychiatrist, medical doctor or therapist.
My personal-development work has been built through lived experience, self-directed learning, years of observing and experimenting with my own behaviour, pattern recognition, creating tools and working directly with people.
I believe formal education has value. I also believe lived experience has value. And I believe credibility starts with being honest about the difference.
Kid Ratnayake provides personal-development consulting and lifestyle guidance. This is not medical diagnosis, psychotherapy, psychiatric treatment or medical care. Where clinical support is needed, clients should work with an appropriately qualified professional.
My journey started with:
“Why Am I Like This?”
It eventually became:
“How Do I Build a Life That Works With Who I Am?”
That question became Kid Ratnayake. That question became Lifestyle Engineering.
And now it is the question I help other people answer for themselves.
Understand yourself.
Find what is blocking you.
Build the foundations.
Engineer the lifestyle.
Move in your direction.
